Jyotish ratna · gemstone calculator
Stones chosen
by your planets.
Not by a quiz.
We read your Ascendant, the lords of your houses, each planet's dignity and the dasha you're living through — then name the stones that support what you want to grow, and show you exactly why.

Where were you born, and when?
Sidereal (Lahiri) chart. Your birth time decides your Ascendant — and the Ascendant decides which planets are safe to strengthen.

The book behind this calculator
The Nine Stones
Fifty-six pages on the method the calculator runs: the nine grahas and their gems, all twelve Ascendants with the stones to wear and avoid, dignity, dasha timing, how to wear a stone, and what to do for the planets you shouldn't. With the bundle, a report written from your own chart arrives in the same email.
Method
How the calculator decides
- 01
Your goal names the planets.
Each goal maps to the house that governs it and its natural significator — for career, the 10th lord, your Amatyakaraka (the Jaimini minister of the chart) and the 11th lord for income activation, plus the Sun and Saturn; the 7th lord and Venus for love; the Moon and 4th lord for a calm mind. With no goal chosen, you get the trikona set: the lords of your Ascendant, 5th and 9th houses.
- 02
Your Ascendant decides what is safe.
A stone amplifies everything its planet rules. Planets that rule the 6th, 8th or 12th house for your Ascendant — without also ruling a trikona — are set aside and listed with the reason, so nothing is hidden.
- 03
Support goes where it is needed.
A helpful planet that is debilitated, in a demanding sign or combust by the Sun moves up — gentle, consistent support goes furthest there. A yogakaraka (ruling both an angle and a trikona) is the strongest ally of all.
- 04
Timing matters.
If the planet is running your mahadasha or antardasha, its stone is the most active one in your life right now and rises in the ranking. Stones of natural enemies are never paired.
- How do I know which gemstone to wear in Vedic astrology?
- Start from the Ascendant. The lords of the 1st, 5th and 9th houses (the trikona lords) are always safe to strengthen, so their stones form your core set. For a specific goal, look at the lord of the house that governs it — the 10th for career, the 2nd and 11th for wealth, the 7th for partnership — and confirm that planet does not also rule the 6th, 8th or 12th house.
- Why does the calculator leave out some planets?
- A gemstone amplifies everything its planet rules. If a planet rules a dusthana (6th, 8th or 12th house) for your Ascendant without also ruling a trikona, its stone can amplify those themes too. We list those planets openly with the reason, and suggest supporting them through mantra instead.
- What is an upratna, or substitute stone?
- Classical texts name a primary gem for each planet — ruby for the Sun, yellow sapphire for Jupiter, blue sapphire for Saturn. Upratnas are the accepted substitutes, such as moonstone for pearl, citrine for yellow sapphire and amethyst for blue sapphire. They carry the same planetary colour and are far more accessible.
- Can I wear stones of different planets together?
- Stones of natural enemies are traditionally kept apart — for example the Sun’s and Saturn’s, or Jupiter’s and Venus’s. The calculator never pairs them, and tells you when it held a stone back for that reason.
- Does my running dasha matter?
- Yes. The planet whose mahadasha or antardasha you are in is the one most active in your life right now, so when it is also relevant to your goal, its stone moves up the list.
